ALBAN

Our closest town is Alban, located 28km north east of Hartley Bay Marina.  Take Highway 69 north and east on Highway 64.  Here you will find a liquor store, a hardware store and a local grocery store.  An ATM is available as well as a branch of the Caisse Alliance de Populaire should you require a bank.

FRENCH RIVER NATIONAL PARK

Established in 1989, the French River Provincial Park is home to 105 kms of canoe routes, interconnected lakes, gorges and rapids.  

The Visitor Centre’s exhibits showcase the rich history of First Nations, French and English cultures that have lived, worked and travelled these waters over the centuries, as well as the river’s plants, wildlife and unique landscapes. The Centre offers local tourist information and a wide variety of specially selected sales items at the Ontario Parks store.

Visitor Centre is open from mid-May to mid-October.  Please check for operating hours.

SUDBURY

For those wishing to spend a day trip off the island, Sudbury (population approx. 165,000) is located about 1 hour north of Hartley Bay Marina. Sudbury is a major hub and the largest city in Northern Ontario with hospitals, Laurentian university, major retailers, restaurants and services.  Sudbury was first established as a mining town and is most famous for its “Big Nickel” landmark.  It is also home to Science North a state of the art interactive museum attraction.
